Beatrice Katherine Taylor, 85, went to be with the Lord Jesus on December 31, 2015, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Bea was born June 12, 1930 in Granville, New York to Harry E. and Florence (nee Du Bois) Parry.
At the age of 12, Bea made what she called the most important decision of her life. She accepted Jesus as her Savior. She told friends that while at summer camp she came to understand that being part of a Christian family was not enough- she needed a personal relationship with Jesus. This relationship became the guiding force in her long and fruitful life.
On August 8, 1948, Bea married Nathaniel (Nat) Taylor, a young Baptist pastor, who would be her only husband and together they had seven children. The Taylor family settled in Barstow and fell in love with the stark beauty and climate of the desert -about as different from the verdant Vermont of Bea’s youth as sand is from water. It became her home for the next 46 years.
Bea taught second grade a Calvary Christian and Barstow Christian Schools here she influenced numerous children and their families until she retired at age 65. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Bea is survived by her children, Harry Taylor (Karen), Thomas Taylor (Thoko), June Divine (William), Jane Carson (Rodney, deceased), Marsha Green (Tim), Jennifer Jaggers (Curt), Margaret Hillion (Bill), Pamela Hill, 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and her beloved canine companion, Sara Louise. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at the Barstow First Baptist Church located at 1320 Barstow Road. Donations may be made to Community Hospice of Victor Valley in lieu of flowers.
