Frances Badillo Garcia died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday 10/25/2017. She was born in Tucumcari New Mexico 9/20/1923. In the early 1940’s she moved with her family to San Francisco, CA and immediately found a job. In 1946 she married the love of her life of 55 years, and started a family. In 1958 the family moved to Barstow where she lived until her death. Her family continued to grow and when her children were a bit older she returned to work and was employed at the Nebo Marine Corps Post Exchange. She worked there for over 25 years until she retired. The two important things in her life were faith and family. Even up to her death she enjoyed all holidays and special events with family which included softball games, weddings, baptisms and graduations. Birthday parties in a backyard, at a bowling alley and even with her grandsons at a brewery. She especially enjoyed an occasional trip to Stateline. Simple pleasures included reading the newspaper with a cup of coffee, praying the rosary, crocheting, word puzzles, hand held blackjack game, watching Family Feud and reruns of “I Love Lucy”. Spending time with family gave her great joy and she enjoyed hearing about what was going on in everyone's life. She greeted family with a smile and a "Hi mijita /mijito" and ended the conversation with "Love you more." She maintained a sense of grace and elegance up to her final day. She taught by example the importance of faith and family unity. This gift lives on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frances is preceded in death by her loving husband Samuel R. Garcia and grandson Jeremiah "Jake" Summers. She is survived by her children Samuel R. Garcia Jr. of Fontana CA, Rebecca Griego of Barstow CA, Gregory Garcia of Long Beach CA and Priscilla Summers of Long Beach CA. Grandchildren include Richard Griego, Dorinda Prieto, Tamar Houston, Rachel Carnell, Rebecca Hansen, Andrew Summers, Zachary Summers, and 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way, Thank you Mom, Nana we love you and you will be cherished in our hearts forever.
