May 22, 1925 – April 17, 2026
It is with deep love and remembrance that we announce the passing of Frank Villegas, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud American veteran, who entered eternal rest on April 17, 2026.
Frank was born on May 22, 1925, in Los Angeles, California, where he began a life defined by service, dedication, and family. As a young man, he answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army from November 5, 1943, to May 7, 1946. During his time in service, he worked as a Small Arms Repair Mechanic (Technician Fifth Grade) and served with honor during World War II, including participation in the historic Battle of Rhineland.
For his service, Frank was awarded numerous honors, including the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Ribbon (Germany). These commendations reflected not only his skill and commitment, but also his unwavering sense of duty.
After World War II, he returned home and married his sweetheart, Celia, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, commitment, and family. In 1955, he made a life-changing decision to move his family to Barstow, California, laying down roots that would grow into a lasting legacy of love, strength, and unity. Years later, after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, Frank was asked to share his best advice for a lasting marriage. With a smile, he answered in one word—“tolerance”—bringing laughter and knowing nods from everyone around him.
Following his military service, Frank dedicated nearly three decades of hard work to Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB), where he worked from 1953 until his retirement in 1980.
Frank was actively involved in his community and was a longtime member of Mount Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. He also gave generously of his time to youth programs, participating in and supporting Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Little League—always encouraging young people to grow, learn, and strive to be their best.
Beyond his professional and military life, Frank found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid golfer for over 40 years, spending countless days on the course enjoying the game he loved. More than anything, Frank cherished time with his family. He especially loved gathering together during the holidays, where laughter, stories, and traditions brought everyone close.
Above all else, Frank’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was the loving father of eight children, and his legacy continues through his many grandchildren and countless great-grandchildren. His presence, wisdom, and steady guidance shaped generations, and his impact will be felt for years to come.
Frank is survived by his children, Franky Jr., Evelyn, Ruthie, Christina, Teresa, Joey, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Celia, and his sons, Raymond and Robert.
Frank Villegas will be remembered for his strength, humility, faith, and the deep love he had for his family and country. Though he is no longer with us, his life stands as a testament to honor, sacrifice, and devotion.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Funeral services will be held at Mead Mortuary on May 1 at 11:00 AM, followed by military honors across the street at the cemetery.
