Joel Lee Stankavich

Joel Lee Stankavich was born on February 14, 1957 and passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2024, with his loving wife Laura by his side. He is survived by his mother Claramae (Hunt) Stankavich, his wife Laura (Best) Stankavich, his brother Dennis (Sally) Stankavich and Joel's' daughters Andrea Massimini, her husband Tomas and Kristin Coia. Joel is also survived by his four grandchildren Connor, Riley & Kailey Massimini and Olivia Coia. Joel will also be missed by his extended family, nephews Matthew Stankavich, William Kearney, and nieces Leslie (Stankavich) Lund and Shelby Freise as well as Gary and Jamee Best and Scott and Cindy Kearney. Joel was preceded in death by his father Donald "Ski" Stankavich.

Joel is best known as the face and force behind the family business Sparkle Car Wash. He started working at Sparkle during high school. He and his wife Laura took over the business in 1993 carrying on his Mom and Dad's legacy that lasted for more then 60 yrs. Joel was private and reserved but he had an enormous heart and sense of humor!

His generosity to the Barstow community spanned over four generations. Aside from his love of clean cars he also had a passion for the desert and spent many years racing motorcycles, buggies and trucks. Joel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Joel & Laura rescued their cats Lucki and Lyla and he became a big advocate for animals in need in the Barstow area. His final wishes were to have a private family burial. Joel's family would like to thank the Barstow community for all of their love and support during his illness and subsequent passing. The food, cards and loving gestures were all appreciated by the entire Stankavich family! In lieu of flowers the family would like to encourage donations be made to Barstow Ca. Pets in Need,The Barstow Humane Society and Route 66 Animal Rescue.
