

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Louisa Valenzuela, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Maria left this world on September 22, 2026, at the age of 95, surrounded by the love of her family at her home.
Maria was born on October 26, 1930, in Barstow, California, to Saturnino and Paula. She was one of six siblings and is predeceased by her dear sisters Andrea San Miguel and Ofelia Cordova, and brothers Richard Mata and Louis Mata. She is survived by her brother Daniel Mata of Fresno, CA. Her early years in Barstow were filled with laughter and learning, shaping her into the remarkable woman she became.
Maria shared a long and loving marriage with her husband, Oscar Valenzuela, who was her steadfast partner throughout their years together. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Judith Poirier, and a cherished son-in-law, Jeff Poirier. Maria found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Ethan Poirier, who brought boundless happiness to her heart.
Maria's presence was a beacon of warmth and generosity. Known for her infectious smile and vibrant personality, she had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Her laughter was contagious, and her kindness knew no bounds. Maria's capacity for listening and offering sage advice was a gift to her family and friends, who often sought her wisdom.
Throughout her life, Maria's generosity touched those around her, leaving a lasting impact on her community and loved ones. She found immense joy in bringing comfort and happiness to others, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.

Visitation will be held at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road, Barstow, CA 92311, US, on October 6, 2026, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Rosary will take place at St Joseph Catholic Church, 505 E Mountain View St, Barstow, CA 92311, US, on October 7, 2026, from 9:00 am to 9:40 am, followed by Mass at the same location on October 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.
A Committal Service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside, California 92518, on October 7, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.
