Marilyn Lee McDaniel

Marilyn was born in Needles, CA, on January 13, 1943, to Wilbur and Bea (Tindell) Murray, who settled in Barstow when Marilyn was a young child. She attended Barstow High School as a member of the Class of 1960, but left early to marry and moved to Escondido, CA.

After her brief marriage, Marilyn returned to Barstow to live with her parents and infant son. As a single mother, she worked as a legal secretary and completed her education, ultimately earning her Juris Doctorate (law degree) from Van Norman University. Marilyn was employed by Barstow Unified School District for 29 years. She was the secretary at Central High School until 1984 and then became the Credentials Specialist in the district office, retiring on disability in 1994. She spent her retirement in her home in Barstow until a house fire in 2012 forced her to move to assisted living in the Victor Valley. Marilyn was devoted to her family, pets, and helping young people her entire life.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Ricky McDaniel (Debbi); her beloved grandson, Justin McDaniel; and numerous Tindell cousins and their children and grandchildren.

Visitation is Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Mead Mortuary in Barstow, CA, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at Mead Mortuary followed immediately by interment at Mt. View Memorial Park.
