Monica Elena Aguayo, 67, a resident of Barstow CA. for 58 years. Over the last 18 years she has been battling breast cancer and heart complications. She lost her battle and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday September 12, 2019.
She was born May 19, 1952 in New Mexico to Jose and Rosalia Baca. At the age of 9 years old, she moved to Barstow and has lived here ever since. She graduated from Barstow High School in 1970. She worked various jobs throughout her life that would help and guide her as she raised her 3 daughters and give them the life they have today. Over the course of her 67 years of life, she was more than just a daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She was Mona to everyone who knew and loved her. The one who always had a revolving door for anyone in need. She was always feeding you when you came over, but who couldn’t resist her food it was so delicious. If you didn't find her in the kitchen cooking you could find her outside tending to her yard she loved her rose bushes. Or she would be in her sewing room; she loved to sew whether it was a hem on a pair of pants or to making her beloved quilts. If you were lucky enough to receive one either as a baby, birthday, or Christmas gift knew that she put her heart and soul into making the quilt. She loved her quilts so much that when she did make them she packed them up and would not give them away to anyone.
Monica is survived by her 3 daughters Tina (Mark) Madero; Lisa Aguayo; and Priscilla (Kendrick) Aguayo. 7 grandchildren Aubrey (Anna); and Chelsie Madero; Isaac (Breeana); and Vanessa (Noe) Montaño; Elijah Edwards; Jeremiah; and Ronnie Owens.
