

Nancy Gloria Silva Baca, 88, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, at home with her family by her side. She most recently made her home in Apple Valley, California, after spending more than 70 years in Barstow, California, where she raised her family and built a lifetime of memories. She was born in Valencia, New Mexico on February 14, 1938 to her parents Alberto and Josefita Silva. She was a special Valentine Baby❤️
Nancy was known for her kind heart, forgiving spirit, and strong faith. She was involved in her church choir and found joy in serving others and being part of her community. Her faith guided her throughout her life, shaping the compassion, generosity, and love she shared with those around her.
A devoted mother, Nancy raised her four children as a single mother. She worked for the Marine Corps Logistics Base for more than 35 years while remaining deeply involved in her children’s lives and activities. Whether volunteering at their sporting events, supporting their accomplishments, or simply being there when they needed her, Nancy always placed her family at the center of her life.
Nancy also enjoyed traveling and taking vacations throughout the country with her loved ones. She was a devoted Dodgers fan and enjoyed watching her beloved team play. Above all, however, she cherished time with her family. She loved deeply, forgave freely, and made those around her feel accepted and cared for.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Nancy’s caregivers, Elaine, Bertha, and Grace, for their compassionate care, kindness, and support.
Nancy is survived by her four children: Yolanda Minor; Bernadette Hawkins; Anthony (Mary) Baca; and Anita (Felix) Lo. She is also survived by her longtime companion, Eloy Chavez.
She leaves behind 12 grandchildren: John (Elaine), Isaiah (Sarah), Sherise (Hugh), Teon, Darris (Jennifer), Christina (Jesse), DJ, Natalie, Josh, Nathan, Daniel, and Jessica; 19 great-grandchildren: D’Andre, Gabriel (Mirella), Rosalie, Jaydin, Darren, Kayla, Anaiya, Elijah, Laila, Emerson, Averie, Cameron, Imara, Georgia, Zaya, Jayme, Jaycee, Jayleigh, and Malikai and 4 great-great-grandchildren: Ezra, Abel, Faith, and Amari.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Alberto and Josefita Silva; her siblings, Florenio, Mary Lou, David, and Isabel; and her son-in-law, John.
She is also remembered by her surviving siblings, Triny, Bruno, Mike(Cathy) Lillian and sister-in-law Maria, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Nancy’s funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Church in Barstow, California. Viewing will begin at 8:45 a.m., followed by the rosary at 9:00 a.m. and funeral services at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service and reception will follow.
Nancy’s greatest legacy is the love she gave to her family. Her kindness, forgiveness, faith, and unwavering devotion as a mother will live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
