November 11, 1954 - August 16, 2016
Roger Dale Renteria entered into rest on August 16, 2016 and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Roger was born November 11, 1954 in Owensboro, Kentucky, and was a lifelong resident of Barstow. Roger is preceded in death by his son Roger Jr. and his mother Norma. He is survived by his father Tony; daughters Sara Renteria and her fiance Kris, and Rose Renteria-Lank and her husband Steven; sisters Beki and her husband Steve, April and her husband Eric, and Monica and her husband Ray; grandchildren Simeon Jr., Mia, Santino, Dominick, Elaine, Andrew, and Joseph; three great-grandchildren Maliyah, Tyler and Karliah; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his faithful dog Sweet Pea. Roger loved his daughters and grandchildren and was proud of each of them. Roger was a jokester and always made people laugh. He was also a great athlete as a youngster, and later in his life he enjoyed playing drums at church and with friends, writing songs and mixing music, as well as writing poetry. But his greatest passion was spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to those he knew, and those he didn't know. He was a faithful warrior for Christ, and one of his favorite scriptures was Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." A celebration of Roger's life will be held on September 9, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow at Crossroads Assembly Church, 501 Avenue A, Barstow, CA. Roger will be missed dearly, but we take comfort in knowing we will see his smiling face again.
