Russell "Russ" Borders

June 25th 1939 – January 23rd 2016

Russ passed away peaceful on January 23rd 2016 with wife Darlene and daughter Tanna by his side. He was born in Paintsville, KY, where he lived until 1958 when he joined the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Shang-ri-la. Russ was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for 40 Years; for which he developed many wonderful friendships. Russ enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling, hiking in the desert and Zion Canyon, UT. Russ enjoyed working to build a beautiful home for his family. Russ fought a battle with both Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease for over 13 years. His family and many friends will miss him, but will find peace knowing that he is now with his personal savor, Jesus. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Darlene, Daughter Tanna, Son Jon, Grandsons Braniff, Beau and Brian, Granddaughter Jessica and Great- Grandson Ethan Russell. He is preceded in death by his son Russell Borders III. A memorial service will be help at Mead Mortuary on February 13th, 2016 at 11:00am. Russ’s final resting place will be in Oceanside, CA at Eternal Hills Memorial Park on February 15th, 2016 at 12:30pm
