He was born on December 13, 1953 in Pocatello, Idaho, to parents Paul and Margie (Margaret) Haislip. The Haislip’s moved to Oakland, California when Scott was three years old. Whenhe was 12 the family moved to Barstow where Scott graduated from Kennedy High School in 1972.
Scott had a passion for riding dirt bikes in the desert. He competed and trophied in numerous desert races and ultimately reached the level of expert class.
Scott married the love of his life, Sharon (Ide) in 1981. They made their first home in Hinkley, California and currently reside in Barstow, California. Their lifetime of love and happiness was taken away too soon.
He worked at the Marine Corps Logistics Base, for 35 years and retired as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic in 2009. After retirement, Scott enjoyed spending the summers in Idaho fishing, hiking, riding his dirt bike and driving his side-by-side (Razor).
Scott is preceded in death by his brother Patrick, parents Margie and Paul, his sister Billie Gay Newsom, and nephew Chris Newsom. He is survived by his wife Sharon, brother-in-law Ray Ide (wife Maribel), nieces, nephews, and many beloved cousins.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held on May 4, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Mead Mortuary in Barstow, California.
