

Sixto was born in Flagstaff, AZ on July 1, 1933, to the late Sixto and Clotilde (Bonilla) Granados. They married in 1932 in Needles, CA. The family later relocated to Northern Arizona, Peach Springs and Seligman.
In the early forties Sixto attended Seligman High where he lettered in football, baseball and was elected freshman class president.
In 1950, the family moved to Barstow, CA where he worked as a laborer for Sante Fe Diesel Shop while attending Barstow High School. He graduated in 1953 as a Riffian.
In August of 1953, he was drafted into the Army and served in Ulm Germany in the 9th Infantry Division. He was promoted to the rank of PFC and received the Good Conduct, Army Occupation, Germany and National Defense medals.
Following his separation in 1955 from the Army, he returned to Sante Fe Diesel Shop. That same year, he was hired at the Marine Base where he worked for two years. He took some time off to attend San Bernadino Valley College, majoring in Electronics. In 1958 he returned to the Marine Base as an Electronics Mechanic until he retired in 1999.
One of the highlights of his civil service career was being selected for a team to repair VRC radios in Hawaii during the Desert War Era.
Sixto is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Hortensia, whom he missed and enjoyed being married to, his son Gustavo and his brother Gilbert.
Sixto is survived by his daughters Stephanie Silva, and Rosella (Ben) Robles.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Adrian Silva, Adriana (James) Rasmussen, Kristianna (Josh) Edwards, Karissa Granados, Destiny Robles, Makayla Robles, Anella Carrillo, and Mia Robles.
Great grandchildren- Dominic Silva, Jeremiah Britto, Jocelynn and Jazlyn Edwards, Aubrielle and Gabriella Rasmussen, Arya Hernandez and Oakley Soto.
Sixto enjoyed visiting the donut shop talking with his friends, singing karaoke, dancing, and watching boxing, Rams and the Dodgers. He was also very proud of his Mexican American heritage. He reveled in the energy and passion of Mariachi music. His favorite song is Sabor a Mi.
Services will be held at Barstow Cemetery on May 27th at 11:00.
The family will be having food and refreshments following Sixto’s services at 1324 Kelly Drive.
Sixto loved wearing shirts featuring the Rams, Dodgers, the Army, or Mariachi themes. Guests are welcome to wear any of these in his honor.
