T.J "Doc" Craig

Thomas James Craig Jr. November 14, 1982 - April 9, 2015 Thomas James Craig Jr. left this earth on April 9, 2015. He was born on Nov. 14, 1982 in Barstow, Calif, and attended local schools, graduating from Barstow High School in 2001. In high school, T.J. ran cross country, and was part of Coach Duarte's award winning team. He attended CSUSB and later joined the army, stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington. T.J. was deployed to Iraq with the C Co 4/9 IN where he became a Specialist and served as a Combat Medic. When he returned from his deployment, he came to Fort Irwin and advanced to Sergeant. In 2009, his son Thomas James Craig, III was born, and TJ was happier than ever to welcome his first and only child. He left the Army in 2010 and worked at the MCLB and then Fort Irwin as a civilian Communication Electronics Technician. T.J. brought love and joy to everyone he met with his warm smile, caring heart and quick wit. He loved off-road racing and was an excellent driver, winning many races with the 3-G race team. He leaves behind his beloved son, Tommy Craig; cherished grandparents, Rila Girdner, Tom and Joan Craig; loving parents, Tom and Becci Craig; siblings, Tim and Melissa Craig, Jeremy Craig and Chanel Kurhajian. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing a trust fund for his son. Services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at First Baptist Church Barstow, with viewing at 10 a.m., and service at 11 a.m. Interment immediately following at Mt. View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Rd.
