

After graduating High School in 1977, he began his military career joining the United States Airforce as an aircraft mechanic. He served 22, years where he traveled throughout the United States and various Countries. In 1987, while stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska he met his wife Cathy and her two sons Ryan and Jason. After a whirlwind courtship they were married on May 29, 1987, and in October 1990, they welcomed son Daniel and spent the next 39, wonderful years together as a family.
He ended his military career as a Technical Sergeant with various medals and accolades and retired in 1997, with honors from Andrews AirForce Base in Maryland, serving as a lead mechanic on the Vice-Presidential Detail. After retiring, he moved his family back to Austin where his wife Cathy was from. His love of country and patriotism was to be admired as he continued working with airplanes at Dyncorp Aerospace Technologies, as a civilian with the Texas National Guard. In 2003, due to his military experience, was asked to travel to Kuwait during Operation Freedom for 6, months to provide support for the planes and crew. Upon his return he continued working on Aircraft until 2013, when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rectal Cancer and his next battle began. For the next 1 1/2 yrs he went through extensive chemo and radiation treatments. In 2015, he was in remission and in 2017, was diagnosed Cancer Free and the joy of life returned.
Once settled back into home life he was able to enjoy family life again, working in the yard and garden every year where he grew some of the most oversized vegetables that he could grow. He loved watching his dogs, enjoyed watching the wildlife that surrounded our home, but most of all he loved his wife, sons and the time he spent with his granddaughters Julieta, Emily and Celina, Dan just really loved being at home and being with his loved ones.
The amount of love, joy, and laughter Dan brought into this world could never be explained in words. Those that had the privilege of being around him felt it every time they were near him. The never-ending number of quick-witted jokes, funny movie quotes, and laughter will never be forgotten and will be missed every day. He was one of a kind and there will never be another like him. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Aguilar, sons Ryan, Jason and Daniel, their spouses and partner, Benita, Molly, and Adam, his 3 granddaughters, Julietta, Emily, and Celina and many wonderful extended family members. Dan will always be remembered for his love of family, home and country.
A Memorial Celebration will be held at the Family Residence, 182 River Oaks Dr, Cedar Creek, TX 78612, on May 30, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
Military Honors by the United States Air Force Honor Guard will take place from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
