

Ethel was born in Quincy, Illinois (Adams County) on the 19th of September, 1938 as the second child of Thomas and Pearl (nee Uhland) Myers.
Ethel was the valedictorian of Unity High School in Mendon, Illinois 1956. She went on to study Education at the University of Southern Illinois (where she met Gary) then transferred to the University of Pittsburgh to complete her Baccalaureate in 1960. Ethel completed a Master of Education in 1974 at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Ethel married Gary Don Johnson on the 30 of August, 1959 at Ursa Christian Church, Ursa, Illinois.
To this union, 4 children were born: Mark S Johnson (wife E Christine, daughter Lauren), Monica L Folse (husband Eugene Jr, daughter Sarah, son-in-law Christopher, grandsons Daniel and Luke), Stephen L Johnson (wife Heather, daughter Karen, son-in-law Fabian, daughter Makayla and son Mason, daughter Diane, son-in-law Robbie, granddaughter Madison, daughter Kelsey, fiancé Alec, daughter Carly), Marianne J Mowry (husband Brian, son Daniel, granddaughter Eden, son David, daughter-in-law Sara).
Ethel is survived by her sister Eleanor and brother Paul as well as numerous nieces and nephews in the Myers and Johnson families.
Ethel was preceded in death by her nephew Jimmy, brother Wayne, sister-in-law Donna, brother-in-law John.
Ethel and Gary lived in many places with their family: Pittsburgh, PA, Lake Charles, LA, Worthington, OH, Baton Rouge, LA and finally to Bastrop, Texas.
Ethel taught many years at the high school level and was loved by her students and fellow teachers.
She enjoying traveling around the United States as well as Europe and Australia.
Ethel enjoyed puzzles and games. She had a life–long love of reading books from the local library.
Ethel confirmed her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we have comfort in her new residence in Heaven. She took comfort in The Lord’s Prayer and Amazing Grace.
