Melissa was the beloved daughter of Juanita D. Ayala and a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her children: Eddie D. Ayala, Melissa Nealy, Billy Ray Nealy, Venessa Nealy, and CB Ayala. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Anaya and Amaya Nealy, Na’vaun Jenkins, Alfonzo Rowe, Ka’meria Ihegborow, David Allen, Kinsley Simona, Magnolia Jane, Gisslle Dee Ayala, and Melissa Ayala. She is also survived by her siblings Joann Delgadillo, Hugo Ayala, and Arlando Ayala, and her best friend, Emma Lou Wilson. Her family and grandchildren were the center of her world.
Melissa worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 20 years, dedicating her life to caring for others. She was proud of the positive changes she made in her life, including quitting drinking and smoking for the sake of her grandchildren, whom she loved deeply.
She enjoyed puzzle books, long phone conversations, spending time with her grandchildren, and, as she would say, “minding her business.” She will be remembered for her strength, humor, and deep love for her family.
Melissa’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
To celebrate her life, a visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 4pm-8pm at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will also take place within that time. Her funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11am. Melissa will be laid to rest at Alta Vista cemetery following the service.
