Jo had a long and exciting career in the health care industry. Armed with degrees from the University Of Texas College Of Pharmacy and a Masters in Hospital Administration from Texas State in San Marcos, she left hospital pharmacy early to develop and execute complex medical education seminars for Baxter Travenol. She traveled extensively training medical personnel on total parenteral nutrition and loved every minute of it. As new technology emerged, she focused on customizing and installing first Baxter’s and then Omnicell’s drug dispensing machines in hospital and nursing home settings. She followed up the installation with intricate training systems for the medical staff at each facility. She was truly a pioneer in the field of pharmacy automation and as one colleague put it, “Jo was a force to be reckoned with”. She retired in San Jose and stayed for the beautiful weather.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and LeIsle Hargraves and her niece, Amanda Hargraves. She is survived by three brothers and their wives: Richard and Jo Anne Hargraves, Russell and Marlene Hargraves and Bill and Sharon Hargraves, and a step-sister, Kathy Lynn. Her beloved nieces and nephews: Elisa Kuntz, Chris Hargraves, Cindy Runge, Laura Wile, David Hargraves and Stephen Hargraves, loved it when Aunt Jo flew in to be with them. She had nine great nieces and nephews. She never missed a graduation, wedding or Thanksgiving reunion with her family.
The family will hold a memorial ceremony for Jo on March 25 at 1:00 PM at the Pavilion at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521.
