She married Jesus Torres on May 27, 1969. The two were each others lifelong companions and friends. They were blessed with six children, nineteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Abelina loved playing Loteria (bingo) with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and caring for her family, as she brought joy to others with her great sense of humor.
She will be remembered as a selfless wife and mother who always had a smile yet knew when to be stern to protect her loved ones. Her character and temperament can best be described from the time she took ill four years ago. Even when times were tough, she was patient and loving. She always asked for her children and valued all the wonderful family and friends who cared for her. Always graceful until God called her home. She is rejoicing in the presence of the Heavenly Father.
Abelina is survived by her husband Jesus Torres; her children Alfonso, Francisco, Jesus Jr., Mina Cruz, Jose, and Eduardo Torres; her brothers Jose and Eduardo Barajas; her sisters Nena and Licha Barajas. She was preceded in death by her parents Salvador and Domitila Barajas; brothers Neno, Adrian, Luis, Baltazar, Alfredo, and Beto Barajas; sisters Chela and Chuchie Barajas.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Alfonso Torres, Francisco Torres, Jesus Torres Jr., Jose Torres, Eduardo Torres, Javier Cruz, Manuel Barajas, and Alberto Barajas.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521, with the graveside service following at 11:30 AM at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521.
