Anita Soto

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we honor the life of Anita Cortez Soto, a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and remarkable resilience. Her presence filled every room with warmth, kindness, and strength, leaving an everlasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is no longer with us, the depth of our loss is immeasurable, and she will be sorely missed by family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Anita Soto was born on July 11, 1931, in Redlands, California. As the third of five siblings and the only girl, she faced early hardships, yet her strength carried her through. She attended school in Redlands and remained a devoted member of her church for over 80 years, where she first met the love of her life, Manases Soto.

A bright and resolute student, Anita thrived at Redlands Senior High School, earning recognition in the Girls Glee Club, Girls Athletic Association, and the prestigious Daisy Chain. After Manases returned from World War II, they married shortly after graduation. She began working at Redlands Community Hospital, balancing demanding work with family as they welcomed their three children: Greg Soto, Dennis Soto, and Corrine Soto Gonzales.

Anita's career spanned roles in insurance, secretarial work, and banking, including 25 years at Redlands Federal Savings and Loan. Her leadership extended beyond work - she served on the YMCA board and contributed to the community in countless ways. After retiring in 1994, she and Manases traveled extensively, embracing adventure while staying deeply connected to family and friends.

In Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning, California, Anita found joy in music, performing with choral groups and taking part in the Follies for years. She played bocce, volunteered at Carol's Kitchen, and remained an integral part of her community.

She is survived by her loving children Greg (Carmen) Soto, Dennis (Terri) Soto, and Corrine Soto Gonzales; cherished grandchildren Salvador Soto and Antonio (Genesis) Soto; great-grandson Leo Soto; caring step-grandchildren Biran (Valerie) Andrews and Shana (Kevin) McDonald; and great step-grandchildren Dylan Andrews and Andrew McDonald. Her siblings Theodoro and Richardo Cortez, along with numerous nieces and nephews, mourn her passing while celebrating the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

Anita's life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication - she will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
