Buddy D. Partain was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
He was the son of Albert and Muriel Partain. Bud grew up in Beaumont, California.
Bud was raised with seven siblings. He had seven brothers, Robert, Bert, Joe, Billie, Ronald, Jimmie and Larry. Bud was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Bud had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Bud was an active child who took part in baseball and basketball. However, to Bud, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends.
A typical teenager, Bud had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood.
On August 3, 1956 Bud exchanged wedding vows with Wanda L. McCollum at Brethren Church of Cherry Valley, California. Empathic and loyal, Bud was committed to making his new family happy.
Bud worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Bud was blessed with three children, two daughters, Lorri and Railene and one son, Paul. Another blessing for Bud was the gift of eight grandchildren, Steven, Trent, Aubrie, Brett, Brooks, Krystal, Marissa and Brock.
Fortunately, Bud enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Bud worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was maintenance mechanic. He was employed for over twenty years with the Riverside County Sheriff. Bud always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Bud found pleasure in sports. In high school, Bud played baseball and basketball. Bud was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were baseball.
Bud’s faith was important to him. He was a member of the Church of Christ for over 50 years. During that time, he was a Deacon and a bus driver.
Bud passed away on March 10, 2011 at Redlands Community Hospital in Redlands, California. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; daughters, Lorri (Jim) and Railene (Tony); son, Paul (Pauline); three brothers, Robert, Ronald and Jimmie; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation was held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 and Funeral Services were held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 both at Weaver Mortuary Chapel 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, CA 92223. Bud was laid to rest in Mt. View Cemetery in Beaumont, California.
Simply stated, Bud was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Bud leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Buddy D. Partain.
