After a long and fully lived 91 years, Della Marie Irwin passed away in peace whit her children and their spouses by her side. Della was one of five children born to Harry Dale and Esther Nord Snethen on December 28, 1922.
Della spent her childhood and graduated from high school in Lincoln, Nebraska. She married Vern Irwin also of Lincoln and the couple moved to Los Angeles, California shortly thereafter.
Della and Vern had four children and they enjoyed 62 years of love and marriage before he passed in June, 2005.
Della was not only a loving mother and homemaker, but pursued various careers during her life. She supported her husband in the business ventures they began together. She maintained the bookkeeping and financial management and acted as full counsel on all of his endeavors.
Because she liked being with people, Della enjoyed a period of time as a Motor Home Sales Associate. Her primary career was created when she was appointed Personnel Manager for Sears, Roebuck & Company in Los Angeles. After retirement to Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning she became a Senior Ambassador for Kaiser Permanente and enjoyed working until 82 years of age.
In addition to her work, Della has enjoyed her membership at the Beaumont Presbyterian Church, has served as a voting registrar for every election for over 50 years. She maintained active her entire life and through retirement by enjoying the International Cultural Club, Social Singles and the Country Dance Club at Sun Lakes. She had a passion for music and dancing, attended every dance possible and never had to take those dancing shoes off.
Della Irwin loved God, her family and people in general. She enjoyed all forms of social interaction, loved to travel with her husband on road trips where she mapped the roads and drove the RV while he praised her driving and attention to detail. After his death she enjoyed cruise ships and international travel with her adult children and friends.
Della Irwin is survived by her four children; Jacqueline Irwin Dunn, Vern B. Irwin, Pamela Irwin Kirchnavy, Tanis Irwin Patrick and their spouses, twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Beaumont Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 2nd. She will join her husband in a private internment at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
