
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis Patrick Nellany, age 73, who passed away peacefully at his home in Banning, California, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. A devoted life partner, loving father, and cherished grandfather, Dennis was deeply loved by those who knew him.
Born on July 29, 1952, in Buffalo, New York, Dennis was known for his kindness, unique sense of humor, and unwavering work ethic. He served as an elementary school teacher at Thompson Elementary School for over 20 years, where he touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. In addition to his teaching career, Dennis was a skilled polygrapher and was notably involved in the O.J. Simpson case as the examiner. Dennis was also still involved in helping to mentor and guide the youths by being a substitute teacher in Redlands High School AFJROTC, and Dr. Mildred Dalton Henry Elementary school in San Bernardino Unified School District.
Dennis is survived by his beloved life partner, Ionne`, whom he affectionately referred to as his wife; his son, Aaron; daughter-in-law, Mariana; and his grandchildren, Kaylee, Caleb, and Sean.
Dennis’s memory will live on through the many lives he impacted, and he will be remembered for his deep compassion, strength, and the love he shared so freely. A gathering for family and close friends will be held at a later date to honor Dennis. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dennis’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
