Fannie Estelle (nee’ Bolden) Bailey, 97, passed away peacefully, on September 14, 2021. Fannie resided in Beaumont, California with her daughter, Vivian, her son in law, Samuel and her granddaughter, Ariel by her side after a long and hard battle with Dementia.
Fannie was born on November 4, 1923 in Huntsville, Alabama to her parents Samuel and Susie (nee’ Humphrey) Bolden. Fannie’s education consisted of training as a skilled nurse in her early teens. Later her parents along with her siblings all relocated to Buffalo, New York. Fannie was the oldest daughter of nine children. She is survived by her youngest sister, Vivian (nee’ Bolden) Rountree Govan (of Southern California) and her younger brother Joseph Louis Bolden (of Western New York). Fannie was the surviving spouse of two marriages prior to her late husband, John William Bailey Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers James Bolden, Samuel Bolden Jr., Harold Bolden Sr., Scipio Bolden, John Bolden Sr., and a sister, Susie Mary (nee' Bolden) Hill.
Fannie’s hobbies and interests never left her standing still! She loved people, the Church and the Word of God. She also had a love for sewing, shopping and dressing up in fashionable clothes.
Her hobbies were instrumental in helping her to launch small businesses. These successes Blessed her to give unique gifts to family and friends. In her down time she listened to soothing music and dancing always seemed to keep her in a good spirit.
Her love for children prompted her towards working several years in pediatrics, as a nurse, at the West Seneca, New York State School for children, that were physically and mentally challenged.
Fannie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had seven biological children; of whom she is survived by: her oldest daughter, Bonita Hampton of Oswego, NY; her youngest daughter Vivian (nee’ Wallace) Jemison (husband Samuel) of Beaumont, California; and her sons Harold Wallace Sr. (wife Marilyn) of Western New York; James Bolden of Southern California; and her son Richard Bailey Sr. (wife Cynthia) of San Francisco, California. Fannie’s blended children includes John William Bailey Jr. (wife Eydie), and Rhonda Bailey of Western New York. Fannie is preceded in death by her biological daughter Rowena (nee' Hampton) Umar-Allen, her son Walter Hampton Jr., her blended children were, Jimmy Bailey and Candace Bailey.
Fannie also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation for Fannie will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Weaver Mortuary and Crematory, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, California 92223. A reception will occur in the dining hall after the chapel service at 1:00 PM.
As a tribute to our mother Fannie's love of shopping and fashion, a theme has been chosen for requested attire, if your are able, “Dress to the Nines". The event will be streamed on Facebook Live for those unable to attend.
