Frances Virginia Roman, age 96, of Banning CA, passed peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Sunday July 9, 2017. She was born in Brawley, CA on March 18, 1921 and was the last surviving of the eleven children of Susan (Chavez) and Cruz Falcon, long-time residents of Beaumont, CA.
Preceding her in death was her beloved husband of 50 years, Andy Roman and her only son, Andrew J. Roman. She was especially proud that both had served in the armed forces for our country, Andy in the Army and Andrew in the Air Force.
Frances was also preceded by her brothers, Roman, Julian, Leo, Gilbert, David and Steve Falcon, her sisters Anita Lara, Agnes Velasquez, Adela Rodriguez, and Eloisa "Alice" Lopez and her great-granddaughter Lisa Arellanes.
Frances is survived by her daughter Rose Ann Cheney and son-in-law Richard Cheney, of Banning, CA with whom she had resided for several years.
"Granny" Roman, as she was affectionately called by all the family, is also survived by grandsons, Rick (Dianne) Cheney of Wildomar, CA, David "Rusty" Cheney of Beaumont, CA and Ron (Kathy) Cheney of Beaumont, CA. She so loved her great-grandsons, Ryan Cheney of San Jose, CA, Kevin Cheney of Wildomar, CA, Britian Cheney of Beaumont, CA and Steven Woods of Beaumont, CA, her great-granddaughters Courtney Cheney, Brianna Gallup and Sandra Woods, all of Beaumont, CA and her five great-great-grandchildren.
Family loved to listen to stories of her travels with Grandpa Roman during his years in the Army. Her favorite being their time in Washington, D.C. and visits with Andy's family in Pennsylvania. She would often speak of growing up in Beaumont when it was just a small town. She attended Beaumont schools from kindergarten through high school. Frances was a cancer survivor and lived with diabetes for many, many years.
We so miss her presence at home and her laughter while watching "I Love Lucy" and "The Golden Girls". She enjoyed "Wheel of Fortune" so she could solve those word puzzles! The family will remember "Granny" Roman whenever a white butterfly flutters past or we admire a yellow rose.
A celebration of her beautiful, loving life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Weaver Mortuary 1177 Beaumont Ave., Beaumont, CA. with a private inurnment at Riverside National Cemetery, all under the direction of Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, CA.
