

Franklyn Michael Cavanaugh, our beloved father, grandfather, friend to many, passed away on Wednesday November 29, 2017, at the age of 97, in Banning, where he was a resident for the last 30 years. Franklyn was born July 24, 1920 in Mystic, Iowa to Opal Cavanaugh and Joe Cavanaugh. He was previously a resident of Inglewood, CA for 23 years.
Franklyn was a self employed commercial artist for 50 years. He was also in the US Navy, World War II Submarine Veterans, and was the Chapter President of the Los Angeles Chapter. He enjoyed sketching, painting, water colors, golf, travelling and visiting with family and friends. Franklyn was a graduate of the American Academy of Art.
Franklyn is survived by his daughter Patricia Cavanaugh (Danny Benjamin) of Santa Monica, CA; son Steve (Ann) Cavanaugh of Colorado Springs, CO and son Joe (Linda) Cavanaugh of Lakewood, CA
Franklyn was preceded in death by his wife Eileen Cavanaugh; brother Jay Cavanaugh; sister Clare Ellen; father Joe Cavanaugh; and mother Opal Cavanaugh.
A full Military Memorial Service will be held in his Honor on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00am at Riverside National Cemetery, where he will be interred next to Eileen, his wife of 70 years.
