Garry Miles Lezotte, Born April 24, 1944 in Buffalo, New York, passed away in Riverside, CA on August 8th, 2015. He is survived by his daughters Dawn (Lezotte) Morrison and Jodi (Lezotte) Arellano, both of Riverside, son in law Thomas Morrison, and his five Grandchildren: Jana, Jordan, Grayson, Grant and Glenna, also Raoul and Tammy Berry and their family.
Garry served with the Riverside Police Department for several years. During Garry’s career with RPD he worked Patrol, Accident Investigation, Motors, R.I.N.E.T, Narcotics, and Juvenile Investigations. Garry served as a Sergeant in Patrol and Special Investigations (SWAT). Garry always worked high activity-high risk beats. He is described by many as a Policeman’s Policeman, a partner you could depend on in any situation and one of the good guys.
His Colleague, Officer Mike Watts recently told Garry’s daughters, “As a Patrolman and later as a field Sergeant it was always good when I saw your dad pull up. I knew then that I had a good person protecting my back. That’s the best thing that any policeman can say about a fellow officer.”
After his retirement with RPD, Garry was hired to work with the United States Marshals Service in the Court Security program. Garry worked in both line and supervisory positions for more than twenty-five years.
Garry was a thoughtful man who was quick to lend a hand to his friends and neighbors. He did so much for people without drawing attention to himself. Stories of his kindness have been a blessing to his family.
Garry loved his home and caring for his cats Lalo, Sammy and Freddie. He enjoyed relaxing in his easy chair, watching movies, and visiting with his friends.
It was Garry’s wish to be cremated and his family and friends will celebrate his life on September 5th, 2015 at his Riverside home where he lived for more than 35 years.
