

Gayle William Simms was born July 27, 1945 in Riverside, CA and was a resident of Banning, CA for most of his sixty-nine years. He was preceded in death by his father, Gaylard W. Simms of Sydney, NE, and his mother, Lottie C. Simms of Beaumont, CA. He is survived by his brother, Ronald Simms, of Scottsdale, AZ, his son, Brendan Simms of Palm Desert, CA, his daughter, Laura Simms-Huntington of Lake Charles, LA, and his granddaughter, Charlotte Simms of Redlands, CA, all of whom he loved very much. He attended Central Elementary School and Banning High School where he was an instrumental, cherished, and integral member of the BUHS Alumni Committees. His passion was his beloved city of Banning. He was a walking encyclopedia of its history, places, and people. He loved to play golf and was an avid deer and bird hunter in California, as well as in Colorado and Utah. A meat cutter by trade since the age of fourteen, Gayle worked for Desert Provisions, Safeway, Gerrards’ Market, Stater Bros, and was the owner of Gayle’s Meat Market on California Street in Yucaipa for nearly a decade. He was a member of the Yucaipa Junior Chamber of Commerce and United Food Chain Workers’ Union. He was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Banning, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Yucaipa. He loved his family, friends, and his country beyond measure and will be truly missed by all. A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 10:00AM at Mt. View Cemetery, 1315 Edgar Ave, Beaumont, CA 92223.
