July 26, 1923-March 14, 2019. George was born in Smithfield, Pennsylvania RFD. His first job was as a coal miner in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He was drafted into the Army Air Corp in 1943 and served two years. In 1948 he enlisted in the Air Force as an officer. He was trained as a navigator and flew many missions in that capacity. He served in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam war and the Cuban crisis. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from March AFB in 1970 having served faithfully for 27 years. He received numerous awards, commendations and medals. Among these were, in particular: The Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and The Bronze Star Medal. George was a man of honor, integrity, and dignity. His strength in the face of adversity, his love of family and his acceptance of help when time began to take its toll, is a testament to his character and his determination to stay with us as long as he possibly could. He is survived by his wife of 44 years DeeAnn Milson, his children Suzanne Milson, George Edward Milson Jr, Kathy Monge, Peggy Vargas, Steve Hodges and Mark Hodges. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his first wife Opal Milson and his grandson Andrew Milson. There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday, March 27 at 2:00 pm at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside. If you would like to join George’s family in a celebration of his life, there will be a Potluck at the VFW Hall at 22616 Alessandro Blvd. in Moreno Valley immediately following the Memorial Service.
