Familia Sanchez, I am truly and deeply sorry for your loss, as it is a great loss. Gustavo was a wonderful man who helped whoever needed it. God places us on this Earth for a reason.  Gustavo accomplished his mission a lot sooner than everyone would've wanted him to and is now with the Lord. Your gentleness, sincerity and ethics shown through your quit demeanor. It was obvious to all who came across you that your love for your family was limitless. Love is gentle, kind and never boastful, it does not rejoice in the wrong, but rejoices in the right all these qualities I see in you. Your work ethic is one to be admired and all you did for the HA will never be forgotten. I was truly blessed to have the privileged to meet a great man such as yourself. May God's grace be with you and your family always. Until we meet again.

For a lot of people, most of our time is spent at work. Unfortunately, it sometimes feels like you live there. Over time, you get to know the people you work with; little by little, one brief conversation at a time. You learn about the family, where your children go to school, the crazy thing your kid said during Christmas dinner and what trips you plan on taking. Before you know it, you've made a friend. That's what Gustavo was to all of us at the Housing Authority. He was our friend. He shared his life with us and ours with him. I will remember him as the person that you went to whenever you needed help. Sometimes it pertained to his position and sometimes it didn't. Gustavo didn't know the word “no.” If he could figure out a way to help, he tried his very best to do so. If he ever had a bad day at work, he never showed it. He was always up for a challenge and reassured those around him that it could be done. Gustavo did a lot for us and I only hope he can see how much we love, miss and appreciate him. 
Gustavo, I am really sad that you had to leave us. But I am so grateful for knowing you and teaching me to work hard and not forget to have fun too.

Your infinite love for your family and your “second-to-none” work ethic embodied your identity. While at Housing Authority, I remember your name constantly being called for many tasks that were within, and many times above, your job description yet you never complained nor declined a request. No matter how large your workload, you gladly took on more work and provided the best service you could possible do. I also remember viewing your family pictures on your work computer, you were so proud of your wife and children, you loved them so much – I know you carried them in your heart every day when you went to work. Your humble smile, gentle laugh and wholesome character will be missed by many.

To the Sanchez Family: My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.  Gustavo was an amazing person with a great heart.  He was always smiling, always willing to help, he never said NO.  We are going to miss him dearly.  It was a privilege knowing him, he will always remain a part of our memories and have a place in our heart.  May God bring your family healing.

In the period of time I was there, his smile was sunshine through the rain. He was a wonderful person to talk to, always ready and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need without a second thought. I thank God for the opportunity of knowing you and working with you. You were ALWAYS kind in your actions and responses.  I know that YOU were a man of God!  Your journey on earth was short but many people learned from you on how to be patient and kind.  The good Lord must have felt that the other angels needed your instructions on Carpentry and other technical jobs so he took you from us.  I will miss your kind smile and soft spoken manner. Who can forget the beautiful, enormous arrangements Gustavo sent Ana to her at our office - what a show of his love, and appreciation for his wife. Many late nights at Fidelity,  I remember walking by Anna's office-saying good night - while Gustavo was sitting at her desk with her- or bringing her dinner.. his demeanor was always so calm, such a sweet, genuinely nice man - was so evident he loved his wife, and family dearly. May God grant you peace.

Gustavo was a wonderful person: wonderful to work with, to talk to, to listen as he laughed with friends, and just to be around. My heart goes out to the Sanchez family as you grieve and recover from this tragedy. I only knew Gustavo through work, and mostly only spoke with him in passing. The kindness and positive attitude that Gustavo projected was second to no one, and I have little faith that I will ever have the honor of knowing another man as pleasant and respectable as he. Our coworkers and I are truly feeling this as we work through our loss, and most of us did not have the benefit of knowing him as closely as his close friends and family; yet, we are struggling. Gustavo, you are, and always will be truly missed. Thank you for setting the bar so high; thank you for every kind thing that you have done for me, and every kind thing that I have ever witnessed you do for others. You have left this earth a better place than you found it; please rest well knowing that you have touched the hearts of many.

Gustavo my friend, aint no minth you can't see what's thinking. Aint no heart you don't know what's feeling. Now you can see every thing. Now you know every thing. Thank you for every thing you shered with me, thank you for doing God's will and not your own. I know that heaven is ful of joy now that you are there. From God we came and to God we sould return. My heart and Prayers are with you and your Family today. I'm going to miss you but we will reunite one day. May God give peace and streand to your family to cope with this loss. RIP my friend.....

To the Sanchez Family- Words cannot express the loss we feel here at the Housing Authority. He was a colleague and friend to many of us. He was usually the first face we saw in the morning and the last one at night. His love for all of you was well known. He always shared the joys you brought to him, including pics of those enormous flower arrangements for Ana! May you find peace in knowing that so many people loved him for the wondrful person he was. Oh Tio how I am going to miss you.  You were loved by so many of us because of how special you were.  I will miss your sense of humor, the way you loved to dance, and for how kind and generous you always where with everyone of us.  I love you so much and will always remember you and carry you in my heart.  I look forward to the day when we get to see each other again.

FYI - the Memorial Mass for Gustavo will now be on Saturday, April 6th at 10AM at St. Frances X. Cabrini Church in Yucaipa. Our community is praying for Ana and the family.
