

Herman Faqeeh Aleem was born Herman Lee on December 14, 1948 in Osceola Arkansas. He was the youngest of eleven children of William Lee Sr. and Odessa Jones Lee. Herman changed his last name when he became a Muslim as a young adult. Being raised on a farm is parents instilled a strong work ethic.
Herman attended Keiser High School in Keiser Arkansas; he was a part of the first integrated class. He was a football player for the school, playing both defense and offense positions. He was an honor roll student, graduating in 1967.
In 1968 Herman enlisted in the United States Navy, after serving four years, was discharged with honors in 1972 and settled in Riverside, Ca.
On October 1, 1982, Herman married Julia Aleem, There were no children born of this marriage, Herman became a positive male figure to his Step-daughter Asya Shakir –Hamilton.
Herman was a licensed carpenter and built many Homes. He was involved in laying the foundations for bridges and highway after the San Francisco earthquake in 1989 and the Northridge quake in 1994. Herman was known as “The Family Giant” with a kind and generous spirit. He was an honest and outspoken man who enjoyed roller skating and bowling.
Herman was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Odessa Lee, siblings- Katherine Lee-Anderson, Mildred Lee-Clay, Odessa Lee- Green, Joe Louis Lee, Bennell and Leadell Lee.
Herman will be loving remembered by: Julia Aleem, his step-daughter Asya Shakir-Hamilton; two brother, David Lee of Riverside, CA, William (Otha) Lee of St Louis Missouri; two sisters, Juanita Neal and Margaret Jackson, both of St. Louis Missouri. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
