

Jonathan Stuart Taylor was born March 8, 1941 in Texarkana, Texas. He passed away May 30, 2013 in Redlands, California. Builder, businessman, veteran and teller of tales, Jon served his family, community and country with heart and determination. Independent and irascible, Jon was a man of strong opinions, but equally strong love for his family, friends, dogs and country.
Jon was born to a teacher and U.S. Army veteran and he found great pleasure in everything from a good book to a good strategy, a perfect cut to a perfect rose. Jon could build anything, from a house to a business to a dream for the future. From the game board to the council dais to the baseball diamond, Jon was a worthy competitor who gave his best in everything he did. Jon retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as a Lieutenant after 35 years of active and reserve service.
Jon is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rita; brother, Gene (Susie); children, Michelle (Tim), Travis (Jacki) and Michael Taylor and six grandchildren. Lauren, Kyle, Justin, Bryce and Ryan Taylor and Tristan Monday. Jon, Johann, Dad, Papa Jon - we love you and we'll miss you.
Funeral Mass Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at 9:00am, at St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church, 12687 California St, Yucaipa, California. Jon will be laid to rest Friday, June 14, 2013, at 9:45am, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, California. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, California.
