

LaVerne Catherine Nicholson, 98, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026. She was born on November 18, 1927, to Frank and Helen Poehls and lived a life marked by faith, devotion to family, kindness, and quiet strength.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marland Nicholson, her son, Daniel Skinner, brother Irv Poehls, and sister Jean Wintroath.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Dvorak, and son-in-law, Mark Dvorak, of Beaumont, California; sister Elinor Zeutzius of Beaumont, grandchildren, Aimee Austin of Yucaipa, Mindi Cull and her husband Jarrod of Beaumont, and Dustin Dvorak and his fiancé Dakotah Johnson of Los Angeles; great-granddaughter, Paige Austin and great-grandson Ethan Cull.
LaVerne loved to fish, travel, golf, play Canasta, and build jigsaw puzzles.
LaVerne’s Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She found comfort and strength in prayer, trusted God through life's joys and challenges, and was devoted to her church and her relationship with the Lord. Her faith was reflected in the love, compassion, and generosity she shared with family, friends, and all who knew her.
She will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering devotion to her family, and the grace with which she lived her life. Her legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.
Church services will be held at St. Kateri
Tekakwitha in Beaumont on September 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate LaVerne’s life and cherished memory.
