

Leonard was married to Mary Ann Bolas, who preceded him in death. He then married Betty Alice Schneider and they have been together for 19 years.
Leonard moved to California at an early age and had lived in Los Angeles, San Pedro and Jackson, before moving to Banning in 1994. Leonard had worked for the L.A. Harbor Department for 22 years, the City of Jackson for 4 years and the Army Corps of Engineers (L.A. District) for 6 years. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps, Transport Sqn. VMR 252 and VMR 353 from November 1942 until June 1946.Leonard attended Edison Jr. High, L.A. and Freemont High School, L.A. , graduating in 1941. He also attended L.A. City College, receiving his A.A. degree in June 1948. He went on to attend U.S.C., getting his B.E. degree in June 1953 and his M.S. degree in June 1959. Leonard was a member of Fellow Amer. Soc. of Civil Engineers and Past Post (Harbor) Commander of the V.F.W.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Betty Alice Schneider; son, Douglas Fred Schneider; daughter, Susan Kay Trotter; stepdaughters, Barbara Wolcott and Carol Wolcott; three grandchildren, AnnMarie Riggle, David Paul Terry, Jr. and Sarah Jane Terry and a step-grandson, Jason Poe.
Visitation and funeral service Friday, April 5, 2013, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Banning Ward, 6140 W. Wilson St, Banning, California, starting at 10:00am for the visitation and 11:00am for the funeral service. Graveside service Monday, April 8, 2013, at 11:00am, at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, California.
