Lucille Murray Lees was born in the Shillong Province of India on April 4, 1942. During WWII she lived in both India and Scotland. After the war, her family moved to Malaysia where her father was a mining consultant for Tin mining. When she was almost ten years old, her father was killed by communist terrorists and she and her family had to return to the UK. Lucille’s mother, Anne Lees, bought a small general store in the village near Perth in Scotland. Lucille was the Jr. and Sr. Scottish Gymnastics champion for two consecutive years. She was an avid rock climber and hiker around Scotland. She emigrated to the USA to act as an Oper for four boys in 1965. Lucille and I were married on Oct. 5th, 1968. We were avid hikers in the Sierra and skiers in the winter. After four years we had two children, Robin and then Alastair. She went to junior college and then she attended Fullerton State College. She graduated from Fullerton College with a BA in fine arts in 1990. Lucille was made a full USA citizen. She was my best and only close friend for fifty-five years and I will miss her forever.
A viewing and service for Lucille will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Ave, Beaumont, California 92223.
