Ormonda Deenean Baldridge-Evans was born, October 16, 1972, in Chicago, Illinois, to Jerri Dianne Baldridge. After moving from Chicago, Illinois, she resided in several states before settling in Barstow, California, in 1987; she eventually made her home in Beaumont, California. She took her flight to heaven February 27, 2012, reuniting with those who preceded her in death: Her Grandmother, who raised her, Barbara Julia Baldridge, and two Uncles, Ormond Baldridge and Peter Baldridge.
Ormonda was an outstanding student, with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. After graduating from Barstow High School, in 1990, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts and English Degrees from California Polytechnic University. She continued her education at MTI Business College, receiving her Certification in Paralegal Studies. She took several Continuing Legal Education classes, and was always willing to share with others what she had learned. She embraced every opportunity she had to learn something new, or take a refresher course.
Ormonda was employed at Anniston High School, as a Substitute Teacher, from 1995-1996. She was employed with Safeco/Liberty Mutual Insurance Companies from 1998-2010. It was there that she made many life-long friends. She was actively involved in the Diversity Program. She was well-known for her tireless efforts while working to get the Law Office of the 21st Century up and running. She worked for Travelers Insurance from 2010 until God called her home.
Ormonda was loving, and devoted, to her husband, Reginald (Eric) Evans, Jr., from the time they met in 2001. He truly was the love of her life, and she made sure everyone knew it! They were in love, and together, until death parted them.
Ormonda and Reginald’s union brought more joy to this awesome Mother as DeVante`, Barry, Johrdan, and Jasmine became a complete family. She stressed the importance of education, and made sure that each of her children possessed a desire, and opportunity, to go to college. She was very supportive of any activity that they were involved in, including being a member of the Band Boosters Club, for Beaumont High School. She was always there, as Mom, to her children and their friends.
Ormonda was blessed with the gift of helping people, and it was evident in her many community, and non-profit, efforts. She, and her family, often fed the hungry during various times. She collected clothes, and food, for women in shelters. There was nothing too large or small for her to do. She was always available for family and friends. She had such a big heart that she couldn’t, or wouldn’t, allow anyone to have a need and not help. She was known for enlisting donations from her family and friends because she knew she couldn’t do it alone. But, she would try!
As a member of Lifespring Christian Church, God allowed her to have more opportunities to help people and be involved. Her greatest love was to plan activities for the youth ministry. She loved the young people and they loved her! She loved her Pastor Dwight Addleman, his wife, Carol Addleman, and her church family, and they loved her, too.
Ormonda will be missed by her family, friends, and co-workers, for so many, many reasons. But, everyone agrees that there will never be another person that could make you laugh like her! If you were down, she would cheer you up! She had a special God-given talent to be there when you needed someone to talk to, and you would usually end up laughing! It has been said that she missed her calling, and could have be a comedian, but we thank God that we all had the opportunity to know and love her, and she left us with our own special memories.
Ormonda’s departure leaves cherished memories to her Husband, Reginald (Eric) Evans, Jr.; Mother, Jerri Baldridge; Mother-in-law, Linda Evans; Children, DeVante` Carpenter, (Curtis); Barry Ragin, Jr., (Berry, Sr.); Johrdan Evans, and Jasmine Evans; Sisters, Danielle White and Sequela Carpenter; Brother, Bryan Baldridge; Aunts, Christine McCall, Renee Gilmore, and Julia Baldridge; Nieces, Aaliyah Baldridge, and Ciara Hamilton; Nephews, Jusiyah White, and DeAndre Hamilton; God-daughter, I’Yanna William; along with many cousins, a host of relatives, and numerous special friends.
