Peggy Pleuntje Land, 92, of Mission Viejo, California, passed away on June 2, 2026. Born January 21, 1934, in The Hague, Netherlands, Peggy’s life reflected steady devotion to family, purposeful work, and a warmth that could brighten even ordinary moments. She will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew her.
Raised as one of twelve children, Peggy came of age in circumstances that demanded resilience. During World War II, she and her family survived the ravages of Nazi occupation—an early chapter that shaped a life marked by quiet strength and a steadfast heart.
Peggy was hard-working in the truest sense, building her days around skill, care, and persistence. She worked as a seamstress and tailor throughout her working years, taking pride in craft and detail. In the early 1970s, she and her sister opened a very popular bikini shop on the Huntington Beach, California pier. They made all their bikinis, cover-ups, and dresses sold at the “Fashion Shack,” a venture that blended discipline with creativity and, in Peggy’s way, a light touch of humor that made the work—and the people around her—feel brighter.
In 1955, Peggy married Leo Loret. Together they had two children, daughter Ingrid and son Leo Jr., and in 1963 they immigrated to the United States. Leo and Peggy divorced in 1972. In 1975, Peggy met, fell in love, and married William “Bill” Land. Peggy and Bill were happily married until his passing in 2006. In 1978, Peggy and Bill retired and enjoyed spending winters in Mexico in their travel trailer, embracing a well-earned season of rest and companionship.
In retirement, Peggy’s kind-hearted nature found easy expression in the friendships she nurtured and the simple joys she shared. She loved playing cards—especially Bridge and Canasta—which she played with friends in her retirement community. She also loved needlework embroidery, and her careful handiwork remains in many homes, a lasting reminder of her patience, generosity, and the love she stitched into everyday life.
Peggy is survived by daughter Ingrid Enyeart, son Leo Loret Jr., and granddaughters Holly, Tonya, Ashley and her beloved cocker spaniel Poly.
Peggy will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered as a beloved presence—steadfast, capable, good-hearted, and gifted with a gentle humor that stayed with you long after the conversation ended.
Peggy will be laid to rest with her late husband, Bill, at Riverside National Cemetery.
