Peter Stelios Panagiotaros-Peters

Peter was the beloved husband of Lana (nee Wilson) for 30 years and a devoted father to his three children, Stelio (Annabella), Peter, and his darling girl, Kristina.

He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Darlene Wilson, and brother-in-law, Jeff Wilson (Pam). A dear uncle to John (Melissa), Tyler, Brandon, Charlotte and Jack.

Peter was also a cherished cousin and friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley; his mother, Mary; his older sister, Kristina; and his father-in-law, Ted Wilson.

Peter was a proud alumnus of St. John’s Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin, Class of 1983. His experience at St. John’s was so profound that his sons, Stelio and Peter, would later follow in their father’s footsteps, graduating from the academy in 2016 and 2017, respectively. The experience, traditions, and brotherhood of St. John’s were something Peter carried with immense pride throughout his life, and having his sons share in that legacy made it all the more meaningful.

For many years, Peter was the owner and operator of Stanley’s Fruits and Vegetables at North and Elston in Chicago. A familiar and beloved presence in Chicago’s produce community, Peter will be fondly remembered throughout the produce market by his many esteemed colleagues, customers, and lifelong friends. The relationships he built over the years extended far beyond business, and many became friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Peter was truly one of a kind. Larger than life, generous, and always willing to help, he was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He helped anyone and everyone he could, never hesitating to show up for the people around him. His generosity, loyalty, and unmistakable presence left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A receiving line will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., allowing family and friends an opportunity to pay their respects.

A prayer and blessing will follow, with light bites and refreshments served afterward. Family and friends will then share words, memories, and stories in celebration of Peter’s life.

At 2:30 p.m., Peter’s fellow St. John’s Military Academy alumni will honor him with a final salute.

Peter will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
