

Beloved mother, grandmother "Yaya", daughter, sister, aunt and cousin. Terri passed away on May 29th, 2019, at the age of 65, of natural causes, in Banning, California. Terri was born on May 15, 1954, in Banning, California, to Margaret Olvera Cardoza and John "Chuco" Andrade. Terri was a lifelong Banning resident and a member of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church in Banning. Terri worked her entire life. As a young adult she worked at the local Pantsmaker, in Banning, and at the Deutsch Company where she worked for many years. As an older adult she worked for 20 years plus at KSD, thereafter retiring.
Terri was a graduate of the 1972 class of Banning High School. During her young teenage years Terri was a member of the Mexican American student group, Mecha, which was an organization that promoted and advocated for Chicano unity and empowerment through political action. Terri was very proud of her involvement with the Mecha Organization and told many stories of her participation in several marches throughout Southern California. She even marched,with Cesar Chavez, an American labor leader and civil rights activist who co-founded the National Farm Workers Association.
Terri was a huge Raiders, Dodgers and boxing fan. Terri was a private person but truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends at family bar bq's and celebrations. Terri loved going to Native American Pow-Wows and celebrations and eating her favorite food, Indian tacos. Terri was a big music enthusiast and especially loved listening to her "Oldies but Goodies", The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), "Old School", Native American and Mexican music collection.
Terri is survived by her grandson Jaden Chapparosa of Banning, Ca; sisters Rebecca Finch of Oceanside,Ca; Irene(Greg) Hernandez of Albuquerque,NM; Rachel Martel of San Antonio, Tx; and Norma Rivera of Hemet,Ca,and brothers Michael Martel of Palm Springs,Ca; Victor Martel of California and many nieces and nephews. Terri is also survived by cousins Doreen (Lorenzo) Avalos, Robert (Stacie) Diaz, Raymond Diaz and Orlando(Mary) Diaz whom all loved Cousin Terri as a big sister and as the Matriarch of our Diaz family.
Cousin Terri will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
Terri was preceded in death by her daughter Dolores Lucinda Chapparosa; her parents Thomas and Margaret Martel; her biological father John "Chuco" Andrade; brother Thomas Martel Jr.; brother Julian Martel; grandparents Sabino P. Cardoza and Lucinda Olvera Cardoza; uncle Sabino Olvera Cardoza II; and aunts Frances Cardoza Diaz and Ruth Cardoza Brady.
Services will be held on Thursday June 20, 2019 with Rosary starting at 10 a.m. and Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at Weaver Mortuary located at 1177 Beaumont Ave., Beaumont, Ca. 92223. Burial will take place at San Gorgonio Memorial Cemetery immediately after memorial service. A reception will be held at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church located at 157 W. Nicolet St., Banning, Ca. 92220.
