Virginia Venema went home to be with the Lord in her sleep on October 7, 2014 with some of her family by her side. She was born on March 13, 1921 into a family of 11 children. She is survived by 1 sister and 2 brothers, 4 children, John Martin, Anne, Kathryn and Coralee; 14 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren.
Virginia was born in Pomona, California, where she also grew up. She met her husband while playing softball which she loved doing. She was married in Yuma, Arizona on February 24, 1940. She was married almost 65 years when her husband John passed away in 2004. She LOVED him more than anything and now she is with him FOREVER.
Virginia may not have had a lot of a formal education, but was a very wise person, she also had a strong appreciation for everyone's uniqueness. She would challenge the status quo. She was able to look past people flaws and was quickly to forgive, even the biggest transgressions. She had very strong convictions and was not afraid to say "B.S." when felt someone was being mislead or being taken advantage of. She was very protective of the people she cared about.
All her children were born in Southern California. In 1948, Virginia gave up the city life to move to Iowa and live on John's family farm with no indoor plumbing and a wood stove to cook on. No challenge was too big for her, she learned to cook very well on that stove, she even learned to bake angel food cakes and pies very well in that wooden stove. THAT'S REAL LOVE.
In 1957, she moved back to Southern California with her family and her children finished high school. She was there a good 20 years or so before moving to various places. She loved her children and was willing to uproot her life and move wherever to help them...Oregon, Northern California, Oklahoma, and Utah, then back to Southern California where she always loved to be. She was a homemaker most of her life, she loved her flowers in her yards...roses more than anything. She always had at least 2 or 3 pets, dogs, cats, fish and a lot of birds. She also loved to cook...pot roast, bee and noodles, pies, homemade candy and loved canning. In her younger years, she loved to have her grandchildren come and stay for a while in the summer wherever she lived, she tried to teach them to garden, which didn't always work out.
She will always be missed in one way or another by everyone.
Arrangements under the direction of Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, CA.
