Ray is preceded in death by his parents, son Nathan Curtis Powers, his brother William Powers, and his brother in law Glenn Tilley. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife Gloria “Susie” Powers; son Derick Ray Powers and his wife Christy Powers; stepsons William Russell Goodwin and his wife Tammie Goodwin and Phillip Wayne Goodwin and his wife Jamie Goodwin; grandchildren Tori Morgan Powers, Paris Nicole Powers, Presli Milam, Abraham Goodwin, Scarlett Goodwin, Piper Goodwin, Willow Goodwin, and Reid Goodwin; brothers Harry (Jeannie) Powers, Larry (Bonnie) Powers, and David Powers; sister Connie Tilley; sister in law Freda Powers; and many nieces, nephews and friends whom will miss him dearly.
Ray was a man of the outdoors and enjoyed working in his garden and tending to his flower beds. He had a passion for computers and all types of electronics. He liked to hang out with his friends eating breakfast at McDonalds. His true passion in life was his family. He absolutely adored his children and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 11 am- 1 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 pm with Paul Manning officiating. Ray will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Military Honors following. Pallbearers include his close friends Terry Calvert, Gary Sawyer, Kemal Sipilovic, Tommie Powers, Phillip Goodwin, and Russell Goodwin. Blue Ridge Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
