

He was born in Glen Hedrick, WV on April 7, 1928 to Milton Curtis Richmond and Nicotie Cherokee O’Neal. On April 19, 1949 he married Anna Maxine Redden of Crow, WV. Dean and Maxine raised their family in Glen Morgan WV, and later moved to Palm Coast Florida. Dean worked as a coal miner for over 30 years; many of those years as a roof bolter. Dean retired from Slab Fork Coal Company in 1983.
Dean is survived by his children Robert W. Richmond (Donna) of Palm Coast FL, and Randy L. Richmond (Laura) of Port Orange, FL, 2 grandchildren, Robert W. Richmond, II (Alesha), and Amanda Yoder (Steve); 4 great grandchildren, Mia, Ty, Taylor, and Levi; and other precious family members: Mary Lou Carter (Richard), and Cierra Spence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Anna Maxine Richmond; their two daughters, Kathy Elaine, and Lisa Leah.
Friends and family may gather for visitation on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 6pm to 9pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive Beckley, WV 25801. Funeral services will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11am, with his grandson Robbie Richmond presiding. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family will serve as pallbearers; Ty Richmond, Richard Meadows, Tim Nathaniel, Dickey Shannon, Jimmy Shannon, and Willie Shannon.
Dean was dearly loved by his family and all who knew him, and will be sorely missed. "Some people come into our lives and quickly leave. Others stay for a while, leaving giant footprints on our hearts… And we are never the same again".
