Arlene was a gifted homemaker and cared for those in her family with love. She loved animals, especially her adored cat, Libby. Her thoughtfulness and goodness was known to all, endearing her to those who came to know her. Arlene enjoyed bringing joy into the lives of others. She was a renowned baker in her community, often showing up to a neighbor’s door with a plate of freshly made cookies or a slice of her famous cake! She loved sharing a cup of tea with a friend, bringing light and laughter to a kindly visit. Most of all, she was the faithful and loving mother to her two daughters, as well as the loyal and dedicated wife to her beloved husband Jack. Arlene loved the Lord, and her family knows that they will see her again in Heaven.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two dearly loved brothers. She is survived by her oldest daughter and son-in- law, Robert and Angela Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio, and youngest daughter and son-in-law Lt. Colonel Michael and Gretchen Saylor of Haymarket, VA, as well as cherished grandchildren: Bryant (and wife Brittney) Edwards of Amelia, OH; Brenton (and wife Becky) Edwards of Amelia, Ohio; Christian Saylor of Bealeton, Virginia, and granddaughter Dr. Felicity (and husband Dr. Bradley) Walker of Beckley, West Virginia. Also, she was survived by many siblings, as she was the oldest of 10 children, as well as their children, her nieces and nephews. Further, she is remembered fondly by friends far and wide. The family has chosen a private celebration of life, keeping with Arlene’s wishes. The family requests in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to The League for Animal Welfare 4193 Taylor Rd, Batavia, OH 45103, in honor of her cherished fur baby, Libby.
