Barbara Helen Davenport

Barbara Helen Davenport, 88, passed away January 21, 2017 in Rome Georgia with her family by her side. She was born January 12, 1929 in Maple Meadow, West Virginia to the late Charlie and Lova Acord Cochran.Barbara has resided in Rome and Rydal, Georgia over the last 12 years and over 50 years in Beckley/4H Lake Road in Daniels, WV. She attended First Church of God now what is known as Cross Point Church in Beckley, WV for 50 years. Mrs. Davenport served as a Sunday school Teacher & Youth Leader, Choir & sang in a trio for many years within the congregation. Barbara was in retail clothing sales in the Beckley area as well as a graduate of Trap Hill High School in 1947 and enjoyed hobbies such as singing and oil painting. Preceded in death were her parents Charlie Cochran and Lova Acord, in addition to her loving husband of 58 years Billy E. Davenport, and one sister Ruby Hunter.Left behind to cherish her memory is her only child, son; Warren D. Davenport and his wife Suzanne of 45 years from White,Georgia; brothers, Howard Cochran of Beckley, WV, Max D. (Patricia) Cochran of Scarbro, WV, C. Frank (Rosemary) Cochran of Columbus, Georgia; Sisters, Dolly Dickens (Brook Park) of Ohio, Patty (Ken) Gano of Panama City, Florida, Grandchildren; Chad J. (Diana) Davenport of Auckland, NZ, Marcus A. (Faith)Davenport of Rydal, Georgia, and Adam J. (Niki) Davenport of Tunnel Hill, Georgia. Great granddaughters; Eden Skye Davenport and another expected in March 2017 and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins family and friends who will miss her dearly.Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11AM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home-5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive Beckley, WV, with Rev. Vondie Cook, Sr. Visitation will be Friday from 6-9PM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.Donations may be made in memory of Barbara Davenport to Cross Point Church – “Billy E. and Barbara H.
