Brenda Kay Maynor, 79, of Mount Hope, WV, went home to be with the Lord on February 23rd, 2026. Born to parents Violet Hodge and Harold Coleman in Charleston, WV grew up to be a devoted mother, loving companion, and dear friend to many.
In her free time she loved to read, solve puzzles, and play board games. When the weather was nice she could be found outdoors, whether it was activities such as walking through her home state’s many parks and camping, or simply enjoying nature and the flowers she planted and tended to at home. She also enjoyed music, often listening to some of the classics— Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, and the Beatles, all created her own soundtrack to her days. Above all else in life however, she was completely dedicated to her family, raising her children, and eventually experiencing the great joy that came from spending time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Violet Hodge and Harold Coleman; sisters Sandra Sevier, Marcelle Johnson, and Cindy Hodge; and brothers Richard Coleman and Randy "Little Bit" Hodge.
Survived by her companion and friend of more than 40 years, James Tyree; a sister Jessie "Susie" Lasley; a brother Michael Coleman; her son, Robert "Kevin" Maynor: her daughter, Donna Snyder and husband David; granddaughters Brittany Maynor and Crystal Williams; grandson Augustus Snyder; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service by Reverend Jerry Tyree will be held at 1 pm on Saturday February 28th, 2026, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home of Beckley, WV. Friends are invited to join the family in her memory for an hour prior to services, after the services she will be laid to rest in the Hope Mausoleum at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
