June 21, 1956, God made a firefighter, Bruce Wayne James. He knew at a very young age what he wanted to be when he grew up, a fireman! At the age of 16, Bruce started his firefighting career at the Beaver VFD, soon after he joined the Bradley Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department where he became the Fire Chief in 1985. He was a part of fire service for 42 years.
Bruce endured a long battle with a Parkinson related illness, on September 19, 2021, he entered the gates of heaven to be greeted by his mother and father Charles and Beverly James, grandparents C.W (Bill) and Emma James, Bane and Gladys Shumate, brother-in-law J.E. Bailey, mother-in-law Elsie Foley and father-in-law Randolph Foley. Oh, what a celebration!
Left to cherish his memory: wife Cynthia James, sister Charla Bailey, brothers GW, and wife Meredith James and Chuck James. Brothers-in-law Ronny Foley, Carlton Foley, and sister-in-law Tammy Feazelle.
Niece’s Christy Fitzgerald - husband DJ, Courtnee Winebrammer - husband Wesley and nephew Jason Bailey. Three great-nieces and four great-nephews. His extended family of the BPVFD and his very good friend Chris Wolfe.
Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Family Worship Center, 224 Pinewood Dr., Beckley, WV. Friends may visit beginning at 11 am and service will start at 2:00 pm.
