Calvin Bowling was born on January 8, 1936 in Winfield, WV to his parents Theron and Leona (Hatcher) Bowling. He passed away on March 3, 2018 in Beckley, WV at the age of 82. Calvin is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby Bowling; daughters Cathy (Danny) Sullivan of Beckley, WV and Christie (John) Ward of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Keilyana Ward of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jonathan (Katie) Sullivan, Desirae (Lt. Brian Toney) of Langley Air Force Base, Joshua Bowling of Montgomery, Justin Moore of Beckley, Keziryah Ward of Myrtle Beach, SC; great grandchildren Izayah Sullivan, Logun Toney, Mason Toney, and Aidan Sullivan; sister Gwendolyn Richmond; and many extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. Calvin was raised in Crow, WV and loved to fish and watch baseball. At the age of 22 he worked as the “Carry Out Boy” for Carolina Supermarket for 5 years. He married the love of his life, Ruby, on October 4, 1958 at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. It was soon after in 1963 he began working for Webb & Neal Funeral Home and then Blue Ridge Funeral Home in 1973 until his passing. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 6-9 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Calvin’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 beginning at 11:00 am at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Calvin will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following the service. We will sure miss Calvin. I sure enjoyed working with him at Blue Ridge and talking with him.
He was always so compassionate to everyone he met.
