September 11, 1944 - June 16, 2022 (77 Years of Age)
Carol Sue Hannah, 77, of Shady Spring, met her heavenly father at 9:45PM on June 16th, 2022 after a short illness.
Born September 11, 1944 in Charleston, WV., she was the daughter of the late Sherman Hubert Ratliff and Kathleen Daisey (Combs) Ratliff of Shady Spring.
Mrs. Hannah held the title of the most important job, homemaker/mother and full-time care provider for her son, Richard Keith Hannah, now 57, who was born with multiple disabilities. She took on this role with grace, love, and great strength. In addition, she volunteered at Raleigh General Hospital for over 20 years and was named the RGH Volunteer of the Year in 2007. She was incredibly proud of this accomplishment and her volunteer work was critical to her way of life.
She was a member of the Open Door Church in Shady Spring and was a faithful follower of Jesus, having been saved by His grace years ago.
Mrs. Hannah was preceded in death by her husband Dallas Keith Hannah, brothers James Hubert Ratliff and Billy Basil Ratliff.
Survivors include son, Richard Keith “Richie” Hannah of Shady Spring, Ronda (Hannah) Gross and her husband Sam Gross of Winchester, Va., grandson Cameron Gross of Abilene, Tx., grandson Luke Gross of Winchester, Va., and brother Lawrence Charles “Larry” Ratliff (wife Linda) of Beckley, Wv.
A viewing for family and friends will be from 11:00AM-1:00PM, Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home to be followed immediately by the service with David Brooks officiating. Entombment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Pallbearers will be Sam Gross, Cameron Gross, Luke Gross, Roger Woods, Ben Blake, and Scott Gross.
