

David Mark Langford, age 55, passed away at his home and left his loving family on Monday, August 25, 2014, following what he described many times as a very enjoyable life. He was born in Columbia, SC on January 10, 1959 and was the son of Mary Find Langford of Lexington, SC and preceded in death by his father Pastor Sidney Charles Langford. He was also preceded in death by: brothers, Sidney Charles Langford Jr. in infancy, and Robert Glen Caulk of Gilbert, SC, his sister Julia (Judy) Langford Rhinehart of Bluefield, WV; and nephew Joseph Todd Caulk of Columbia, SC. He is survived by his mother Mary Find Langford of Lexington, SC; his brother Sidney Lawrence Langford and wife Shelia of Rockledge, FL; sister-in-law Janet Caulk of Gilbert, SC widow of brother Robert Glen Caulk, four nephews, Glen Paul Caulk of West Columbia, SC, Michael Shane Caulk of Lexington, SC, James Wesley Haygood of Chapin, SC, Adam David Rhinehart of Princeton, WV and one niece, Maria Rhinehart Jones near Nashville, TN. David was a 1977 graduate of Princeton High School in Princeton, WV and later graduated from Bluefield State College in Bluefield, WV with his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology. He spent a successful 32 year career with Appalachian Power Company (later American Electric Power) in Beckley, WV primarily working in external affairs and customer service and also served in a lobbyist capacity in Charleston, WV supporting various public interests. Throughout his career he was involved with various chambers of commerce, United Way, Rotary Club, Beckley Area Foundation and a host of additional community service organizations in southern West Virginia. David had a special passion for golf and events with family and friends and has requested after his cremation that a celebration of life service be held at the Grand View Country Club at 1500 Scott Ridge Road, Beaver, WV. The service has been scheduled for 2:00PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, followed by the spreading of his ashes at the 18th hole. The service will be co-officiated by his nephew Adam David Rhinehart along with Pastor Randy Adkins, of United Methodist Temple. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Beckley Area Foundation in David's honor at 129 Main Street, Suite 203, Beckley, WV 25801.
