Donald Ray Childers

Donald Ray Childers, age 75, of Mt. Hope, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House. Born on August 5, 1945 in Quincy, WV, he was the son of the late Arthur Bruce Childers and Marie Davis Childers. Mr. Childers loved to cook and had a passion for fishing. He was a man of great faith who loved and cherished his Bible and served the Lord as a teacher at his church, Little Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Childers was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Arthur and Marie Childers, he was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Mrs. Wilma Plumley Childers; his children, Tina Scarbro and her husband, Jamie, Donald Ray Childers, II, and Crystal Lee and her husband, Scott; his four grandchildren, Lucas Willis, Courtney Willis, Taylor Childers and Trevor Scarbro; his great-granddaughter, Ella Rattler; his two sisters; his many nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law, Helen Plumley. A Service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Little Valley Baptist Church, South Sand Branch, with Pastor Junior Plumley officiating. Very sorry to hear of Donald's passing. He was a very sweet and kind man. Had the privilege of working with him at Woodrow Wilson. Thoughts and prayers.
