Doretta Jarrell

Doretta Smith Jarrell, 78, of Prosperity (formerly of Ameagle, WV), passed away on February 7, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on February 21, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Violet Stover Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Ronald Eugene Jarrell; sister, Elsie Richards; brother, Frank Stover. Doretta was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. One of her favorite past times was watching soap operas and chatting with her sister, Muriel. She also loved to play cards; favorite card game was “set back”. Those left to cherish her memory includes her two sons, Don Jarrell of High Point, NC and Michael Jarrell and wife Susie of Shady Spring; daughter, Lora Jarrell Denning and husband Jerry of Huntington, WV; grandchildren, Ashley Jarrell Holbrook and fiancé Brian Semenske of Mt. Hope, Lindsey Jarrell of Shady Spring, Kandyce and Skylar Jones of Huntington, Cynthia Jarrell of Greensboro; great-grandchildren, Kylie Holbrook, Gage Ferguson and Bryson Jones; sister, who was also her best friend, Muriel Jarrell of Fayetteville; special nephew, niece and great niece, Ricky, Melissa and Rickayla Jarrell; along with several other nephews, nieces and a host of friends. Friends may gather with the family Monday, February 13, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral home from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be held 1pm, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Carrying out Doretta’s final wish, she requested that her grandchildren and great niece participate in the walk with the pallbearers to her final resting place.
